"Just Take Two"

Welcome back to our fifth week working toward a new finish for our SAHRR. This week, Gail from  Quilting Gail has chosen to throw a different kind of curve in the mix. She is asking us to make a block with just two colours. Thank you Gail.Of course, the discussion always rolls around whether our background is a colour to be in cluded in this weeks adventure, but since the rules walls in this project are not frozen into one shape, there is room for interpretation.Though I am seldom seen as a purist, I decided to stick with the literal interp of the guide. staying with my Thimbleberries bits, amd having the opportunity to make one of my most favoured blocks, this week I'm bringing my 6 inch Churndash block to add to my grouping.

It's likely that many of the participants in this year's adventure have already determined their layout, and size, but for some unknown reason, I have changed my ideas in that dept. several times, and am still in the undecided group.
I'll see you next week if all goes to plan. Stay safe and always be kind
Hugs
Lynn

  4. Churn Dash is one of my favorite blocks. While this is only my second SAHRR, I did not have any plans, other than to keep it a smaller more manageable size. I have always been a design and create as I go kind of person, which works best for me. Last year I di the prompts all around until the last 2 as it was getting too large. This year I decided to make 2 sides (instead of 4) each time to keep it smaller. But after seeing some row quilts, I may do that next time (if they continue the SAHRR next year). It sure gives us choices in how we want to set our quilts, but we can change and do things different as the prompts come too. I love how everyone comes up with lots of ideas.

    1. Hi Daryl, Thanks for your coments. There is so much learning that happens for me when I participate. I think this is my third year participating. I look forward to the next year all year long. Having no set pattern intrigues me, and feeds my desire for the unexpected. I seriously considered a row quilt this year, but my untidy brain just wouldn't cooperate. One design point I am sticking with is to keep the piece a bit smaller. Today I am considering using the "circle of nine" approach to complete the challenge.

  5. Churn dash blocks are so charming! And judging by your last SAHRR from 2025, this year's will be stunning!

  8. Oh, I'm not one of those who has figured it all out, and am looking forward to/dreading that last prompt. However, I may do as some have done, and blend into a row that has already been completed. Churn Dash is a favorite block--glad to see it here!!

    1. Well that day has arrived, and Anje has been very kind, any block or blocks we wish. Who could ask for more? I too have been wondering how I can make it all come together. Definitely this final promppt will lighten that decision. Onward and forward we go. Thanks for your visit.

  9. Undecided is okay! I like that little block, and that fabric brings back such good memories of my early quilting days!

  10. It's the second project I have on the go with my almost vintage Thimbleberries. I shared with my small quilting group( we havebeen sewing together for 14 years on a monthly basis, my adventures with the SAHRR the past two years, and they decided that as a group we would embark onm a sort of RR. We are 8 members, and each monthone of us would provide the prompt, and an example of what might be made with the prompt guidelines. For some reason unknown to me at present, we thought we should have nine prompts, so one member is providing two of them,There are no prizes, and there is no linky party, but each month we bring our completed prompt pieces if we wish ,to our gathering. I'm having lots of fun with this as well and using up more of my Thimbleberries. This note is probably more than you wanted to know, but there it is. So happy you stopped by Wendy.
