Not a quilt, but a great example of the impact colour can have on us. Morning is breaking in this photo. There is a feeling of calm and peace. In addition to the cool colours there is a hint of warmth in the pink of the sky. Colours have a great impact on my emotions. Have you ever experienced intense feelings from seeing particular combinations of colours?

You may have seen my Tiger Tails quilt before on the blog. I finished it about a month ago, and it is a vibrant happy quilt, very suitable for its intended recipient, our granddaughter Penny.

The batik squares were trades made during our guild meetings.

This bag is made with a fabric foundation, and selvedge pieces from my projects. The pattern is by Karen Neary -  of

Sew Karen-ly Created...

. I've made this bag many times, and it serves well. Karen has lots of fun and unique patterns on her site. There are trips down memory lane with this scrappy project.

Not long ago I saw a quilt block somewhere, but I can't for the life of me remember where. However a couple of days later it was still in my mind, so my only recourse was to try and draw it out as I remembered it, and try to recreate it. It's one of those things that gets in your ear and knocks around until something is done with it. Well this is the block I came up with. You may recognize it, and if you do, please tell me. Of course I'm not 100% sure I have it exactly as seen, but I find that I like it, so I'm determined to make a few more and see where it goes. I love the colours in it. They are scraps, but pretty ones.

I hope you have enjoyed our visit, and that you will drop in again sometime. Be sure to visit all the other bloggers participating this week . You make our day
Be kind and lend a hand where you can
Hugs
Lynn

  1. Pretty block! When an idea gets stuck in your mind it can definetly be annoying, as you say until something is done with it.

  15. I love seeing sunrises ( or photos of them) and sunsets. Even better, the reflection on water is mesmerizing. There is always an array of colors that just light up the sky and my soul. And what a wonderful quilt design to accentuate the beautiful batiks. Great finish! I also love your quilted selvage bag.

    1. From May until November I live in my little cottage on the Northumberland Strait. Even though I have been watching sunrises and sunsets for many years, I am always moved by the sight, and never are there two exactly the same. Mt little point and shoot camera has taken thousands of pictures of the water, the clouds, the sea birds, and the changes in light throughout the days and evenings. This is the place of my heart. Thanks for visiting with me today.

    1. Thanks for visiting. I have been blessed to see so many beautiful moments at the cottage. I will be moving there is about 2 weeks again for my 6 months. This morning in my "deep in the woods" home I was outside listening to a woodpecker drumming somewhere in the forest, and then the deer arrived to eat the tender grasses on the southwest side of the house. This too is a great spot, but the ocean holds my heart and soul.
