SAHRR Prompt#5 Throwing in a Curve

Welcome back to my interpretation of Wendy at Pieceful Thoughts prompt for our SAHRR. We've been rolling along and having sew much fun! I pondered what would be my contribution for a number of days. There have been so many good ideas offered by our leaders.

Finally I decided to go without a pattern, and play with fabric. I first cut a 7" square of background fabric. Then I hunted down my clear circles made from template material. I traced  a circle of the largest size  on my manilla paper, dividing the drawn circle into halves , then quarters, and finally eights. Then I cut the paper circle in half to start my next step.I have a plastic bag crammed with scraps of Thimbleberries fabric from over the years. Without being super choosy, I paper pieced bits to the halves. Nothing about this was difficult , but I found myself singing along as I played. For me this is magic. Eventually a block emerged, using a fusible web to layer my bits. I didn't want the block to be too thick, so I removed some of the under layer of each. Then a bit of close zigzag stitching and I was done. And the scrap bag is seemingly the same size as before . I have two pictures to share

This picture shows the circle template. I've used this group a number of times over the years

Ta Da, my block. Nothing fancy, but I think it will work.

Where will this journey take us next? Quilting Gail will be offering the prompt for border #5. Thanks to all of our leaders, and to you for visiting. I hope you will be able to visit everyone through our journey. Stay safe, and  be kind

Hugs

Lynn

  1. That's a nice mix of fabrics in the circle. Those scrap bags do have trouble getting smaller.

    1. Thanks Claire. Every time that I open that particular scrap bag, I am reminded of the many projects our Thimbleberries group made during the Thimbleberries era. Great memories with good friends.

  2. First of all - a bag full of Thimbleberries scraps - what a dream! And second, your circle is just adorable. I love the fabric of course, but also love the way you put it together and had such joy in it. Your stitching is beautiful.

  5. And I used a circle block last week--we are on the same vibe, but definitely, yours is fun and fancy for this week's curves prompt. I laughed when you said "the scrap bag is seemingly the same size as before." Oh, boy! Do I know that feeling!! Great work, carry on.
