SAHRR 2026 Prompt #1

 Brenda from Songbird Designs provided us with out first prompt. Each of the co-leaders had examples on their blog to provide inspiration to the rest of us.  Brenda's choice was the hourglass block. There's sure lots of choice when you are making a decision about the block. My choice was found in a set of block patterns issued many years ago It was an online adventure with 6 inch blocks, and this one was called Crosses and Losses. I don't know where the name originates. 

Although it doesn't show well, the smaller hourglasses are a purple and black print.I wonder where this will go? Check out all of the linked photos at Brenda's blog

    I went back and read your first post to understand your process and I think it's really interesting how you are approaching this SAHRR (and BTW, love your last quilt). That's an interesting idea, and will create more of sampler-block look, I suppose. I'll stay tuned!
    I looked up Crosses and Losses in my BlockBase+ software and it's a traditional pattern originating somewhere between 1895 and 1934; take your pick of years. Looking forward to your journey in SAHRR!

      Thanks for stopping by and also for your comment. I chuckled when /i read that the block was originating between 1895 and 1934. I guess it's very suitable of an 80's lady. My 80th will arrive this summer.

    That's a nice block to use for the hourglass round! I'm curious about the name of the block, might have to do some searching on that.

    The original 12 inch block can be found on a youtube video from this online site Mine is onlt 6 inch finish https://www.sewingpartsonline.com/ . I do like it.

    This is a very pretty block! I especially love sampler-style SAHRR quilts, so I'm excited to see yours as it comes together!

      This SAHRR seems so different for me. I have some block arrangements twirling around in my head and hopefully I'll be ale to pull one together for this adventure.
