"Fun in the Sun"

Good morning. June 24,2022

Well this week has sped by, and today I get to share with you all my interpretation of Carol's theme. What a creative crew! Thanks Carol of Just Let Me Quilt for hosting this summer fun.

I am from Nova Scotia and wherever you are in the province, you are not far from the sea. "Canada's Ocean Playground" as some advertisements say. For me. I live by the Northumberland Strait for six months, and then in the forest, part of the old Cobequid Mountain range (well worn with age).for the other six. Let me share my seaside view with you. I love watching the ocean, the tide, and the sky. Click on the pictures for a full view. I forgot to add that initially.

This small quilt I made for the deck I've called Sand, Sea, and Sky..   The colours speak those words to me, and they are beach fabrics. Our daughter is celebrating a birthday this month, and I wanted to make something fun for her cottage. She and her husband have worked very hard to bring life to an old log cottage on the estuary of River Philip, a large tidal river that empties into the Northumberland Strait. These are my projects for today.

The frog print in the Adirondack chair adds a bit of whimsy to the pillow. It makes me smile every time I see it.

I have one more small fun project to share. What is a blog hop without a pincushion? This little one is very sunny. I was at my monthly quilting group meeting, and this small piece of happy fabric arrived in a small scrap bag from one of our members. I think it fits with this hop. I almost always put either sand, or rice, or pellets in with the filling. It gives a bit of weight and stays in one place. This pincushion is 4+ inches by almost 6. I made a small packet using some scrap pieces and put about 1/4 cup of sand in it before sewing it closed. Then I add fibrefill around the packet after inserting it into the cushion cover. . This has never let me down, and if I use sand, I buy it at Dollarama, a garden variety dollar store  I believe . It is a clean and inexpensive.weighting material.

Thanks for stopping by. I am always happy to have your visit. This has been another fun adventure.
Lend a hand when you can
Lynn

  5. What great projects! Definitely makes me feel the sunshine. I love Nova Scotia. We got to spend a tiny bit of time there on a cruise before Covid hit. That is one place we all decided we could retire to and love.
