Settling in and Quilting

It is just slightly over one month since I have written here. I have finished my move from the cottage to our winter nest in the woods, and even though much has been quiet, there is always the rhythm of life moving us along quietly eating up days, months, and years. I have thought long about my rhythms and what they mean, and how they come to be. They have changed over time, but I feel it is important for me to be aware of what they say, and how they impact on my quality of life. Figuring out what our individual rhythm is, and learning to be aware of when we are straining against that natural cadence, has been my ongoing study. I wonder who else seeks their individual rhythm and decides to roll with it? I don't want to try to be who I am not, and I relish getting to intimately keep in touch with who I am. To say I miss the ocean and it's steadfastness would be an understatement. The sky over the Strait, the ocean calling to me letting me know that it is there and will let me know when change is in the air, those are things I miss greatly.

Snow is in the air here in the woods today. The deer come early in the morning to eat from the apple trees growing on the land, or from the windfalls that cover the ground at this point. I also notices some partridge in the yard having a few apple bites as well. At some point soon, the ground will freeze, and snow will blanket the plants until spring. That is what should happen. Wee will wait and see.

I'm back at my quilting activities. I have started attending the guild meetings, and even a Saturday workshop last weekend. That is quite a lot of out for me. In addition to our Guild BOM, I started a workshop project on Saturday the 20th, and today I am participating in a mystery quilt along sponsored by The Fort Worth Fabric Company. The mystery is called "Homemade Christmas. It will run for six weeks with the clues posted on Mondays. Clue #1 contained the cutting instructions for the entire quilt, and number two gave us the directions for making four stars from our precut work.

FWFS had beautiful kits we could order, but from here to there is a country away, and currently with currency exchange and delivery delays so common, my stash needs to fill in. Mysteries can be so much fun. FWFS has written clear instructions both for the cutting, and for Clue two as well. We are sailing at this point. I'll try ti keep up, and also try to post my progress.
And of course next week we will see the launch of Bonnie Hunter's new mystery at Quiltville Quips and Snips. There is always something really exciting to do with all of the creative genius you can find online.
I hope to participate with this group as well, although I won't likely make the full quilt.
If you want a sweet piece for hand Embroidery, check out Mary Corbett and her Dragonfly design that she is freely sharing with us.
I think that is what I want to record for today. Hope you are synced with your individual rhythm.
Lynn
